Velit 12v Air Conditioner Install

Welcome to my van build series! In each video, I'll walk you through the projects we started each month (and, hopefully finished). I'll share details about the challenges we faced, what we learned, and how much everything cost.

I purchased a 2021 Ford Transit 350 extended high roof cargo van in August 2023. We spent 8.5 months converting it into my dream tiny home on wheels.

We accomplished so much during month four of our Ford Transit campervan build:

  1. Installing the Velit 12v Air Conditioner

  2. Installing the Diesel Heater

  3. Mounting and Wiring the Electrical System

  4. Installing the Hot Water Heater and Water Pump

What I learned from this process:

There’s a reason why (almost) everyone installs the roof components first.

It’s a more efficient use of your time to cut all the holes in the roof at one time. And it’s safer (less worrisome) than cutting them after you’ve already put up insulation and started pre-wiring.

Nothing is perfect.

Before we started the build process, I told myself that I would get frustrated, lose my patience, and that it wouldn’t be perfect. By giving myself that little reality check ahead of time, I adjusted my expectations and it paid off. Because, I made countless mistakes throughout the build that I either accepted or fixed.
