Unaka Roof Rack Install

Welcome to my van build series! In each video, I'll walk you through the projects we started each month (and, hopefully finished). I'll share details about the challenges we faced, what we learned, and how much everything cost.

I purchased a 2021 Ford Transit 350 extended high roof cargo van in August 2023. We spent 8.5 months converting it into my dream tiny home on wheels.

Welcome to month five of our van build series where nothing goes as planned and we almost lost one of our dogs. This month we accomplished the following:

  1. Finish installing the electrical system and test that everything works correctly

  2. Stain, seal, and install the bunk window frame

  3. Install the Unaka Roof Rack

  4. Install a massive drawer

  5. Start on the ceiling

  6. Cut and attach wall panels

What I learned from the process:

EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

When you work in a small space (84 sq ft), each project is related to the next project. You can’t complete one without the other. You’re constantly setting one down to move the next one along. And eventually, it feels like dominoes or Tetris when everything falls into place and they get completed all at the same time.

How much did it cost?

$ 381 – WeBoost Cell Signal Booster
