Introducing Yoga for Beginners

Yoga for Beginners is a 7-day series that helps students who are new to yoga build the foundation they need for a successful practice. Throughout the series, we'll focus on alignment, building strength, increasing flexibility and mobility, and reducing stress.

How to Use this Series

I recommend that you use these practices consistently on a weekly basis over the next 1-3 months. You always have the option to mix and match them. For example, you might combine Day 2 with Day 3 for an hour and a half practice (ah!). Choose which ones you enjoyed the most and keep practicing until you feel confident on your mat.

Props, Props, Props

My uncle, who is a woodworker, once told me that having the right tools makes a job much easier. He’s right! With this in mind, I recommend you purchase yoga blocks, a bolster, a strap, and some blankets. Of course, you can always use what you have around the house until you decide you’re hooked on the physical practice of yoga (wink, wink). I suggest that you keep two blocks and a strap or belt handy anytime you step on your mat. If you’d like some suggestions on which ones to buy, check out this video.
