Campervan Bunk Awning Window Install
Welcome to my van build series! In each video, I'll walk you through the projects we started each month (and, hopefully finished). I'll share details about the challenges we faced, what we learned, and how much everything cost.
I purchased a 2021 Ford Transit 350 extended high roof cargo van in August 2023. We spent 8.5 months converting it into my dream tiny home on wheels.
We installed a Nomadic Supply Company universal campervan bunk awning window in my 2021 Ford Transit extended high-roof van. It took us a couple of hours over two days. We experienced two issues that we were able to address (one immediately, and the second one later in the build).
What I learned from this process:
Install Exterior Mounted Items First
I would cut and install all of the exterior equipment like windows and exhaust fans before doing the insulation or pre-wiring. This would allow for easier clean-up.
Cut Away Less of the Vertical Van Ribs
Cutting the vertical van ribs was absolutely necessary for the window installation. However, the wall would have been less flimsy had we cut away less of them. Thankfully, we were able to reinforce the wall around the window later on in the build process.
How much did it cost?
$351 – Nomadic Supply Company – Universal Campervan Bunk Awning Window
$2,951 – Month Two Subtotal
$3,302 RUNNING TOTAL
