This goes without saying, but…
Welcome to my van build series! In each video, I'll walk you through the projects we started each month (and, hopefully finished). I'll share details about the challenges we faced, what we learned, and how much everything cost.
I purchased a 2021 Ford Transit 350 extended high roof cargo van in August 2023. We spent 8.5 months converting it into my dream tiny home on wheels.
We wrapping up month three of our van build series. In today's video, I share the challenge I faced when the huge fresh and gray water tanks arrived, and the exterior light installation and pre-wiring of the DC-DC charger.
What did I learn from this process:
Your Vision Will Change
I mentioned this during my Month One video – Your vision will change as you go through the build process. Remain flexible and just roll with it! (I didn’t end up with my initial layout and that’s ok. Everything worked out!)
Measure Before You Order Product(s)
Make sure to measure the products you’re purchasing to ensure they fit in the space the way you envision. Another option is to make a cardboard template to see how everything will fit together or use software like SketchUp. (I tried to learn SketchUp but the learning curve was too steep for my patience).
How much did it cost?
$ 76 – Chelhead RV Porch Light White Aluminum Base 12V DC
$ 263 – Class A Customs | RV Fresh and Gray Water Tank | Combo Pack (23 Gallon & 33 Gallon)
$3,302 – Month Three Subtotal
$3,641 – RUNNING TOTAL
